The warm weather that comes with summer makes it so much easier to enjoy the outdoors. However, sometimes things can get a bit too hot, especially in the enclosed environment of an RV. Luckily, the experts at Boyer RV Center have put together this list of tips on how to keep your RV cool during the summer.

Use the Breeze in Your Favor

Before you park your RV, try to get a feel for the local wind patterns. Orient your camper so that the breeze will blow into the windows. That way, you can simply open a window whenever you need to cool off. Make sure that your windows are also equipped with screens to keep out mosquitos and other unwanted pests before you do this!

Create Your Own Shade

Take advantage of the natural shade provided by trees whenever possible. You can also create additional shade if need be by putting down an awning or using a tarp.

Optimize Your RV's Cooling System

Dirty or clogged air filters can make it harder for your RV’s cooling system to do its job. Make sure that you are regularly cleaning and swapping out the filters.

Don't Forget About The Skylights

Many RV owners use insulating covers on their windows in order to help keep things cool. However, these owners sometimes forget that the skylight is also capable of letting in heat, so don’t forget to cover your skylight.

Check Your RV's Fridge

Your RV’s fridge can ironically be one of the biggest sources of heat inside the vehicle. Luckily, you can prevent heat buildup by simply checking the vents at regular intervals and replacing them as needed.

Turn Off Electronics

Electronic devices like televisions and laptops are another major source of heat. To keep things cool, limit your screen time during the hottest parts of the day.
